Welcome friends!

Welcome to The Lucky Few. Founded by New York Times best-selling author Heather Avis, The Lucky Few is a national Down syndrome advocacy organization and nonprofit shifting narratives to create a more inclusive world where everyone belongs.

You Belong Here

Heather Avis believes in a fully-inclusive world where our differences are not just accepted but are celebrated, embraced and encouraged. A world where everyone knows an actual living person with Down syndrome and what it means to be part of "the lucky few."

The Lucky Few Foundation is a global storytelling movement, shifting narratives to create a more inclusive world where everyone belongs. The Foundation ensures that family members, friends and loved ones of a person with Down syndrome have the opportunity to share what it means to be part of “the lucky few,” and everyone else has the opportunity to access it.

The Lucky Few is an invitation to build a kinder, more inclusive world. We accomplish this through a combination of advocacy and activism, narrative-shifting and storytelling. The Lucky Few believes in inspiring and challenging our audiences; calling them to listen, read, share, contribute and support as we work to create a world where differences are embraced and everyone belongs.

When we work toward a world where everyone belongs, all people, including you and me, are supported and embraced.
